Since 1974, Dennis N. Persin has been focusing his practice on matters involving workers' compensation, social security disability and personal injury. During that time, he has tried well over a thousand worker's compensation cases, representing both employers and workers in matters involving injury by trauma, occupational diseases from exposure to noise, fumes, chemicals and dusts, and disability due to defective equipment, heart attack, repetitive motion, and other causes. Many of these cases have involved serious injuries, amputations, loss of use of various body parts, lung transplantation and loss of life. In addition, he has successfully negotiated lump sum settlements, when appropriate and taking into account the interests of Medicare, where applicable.
As a member of the Workers' Compensation Section of the Pennsylvania Bar Association and a founding member and former Director of Pennsylvania Industry for Workers' Compensation Reform, Dennis has earned a statewide reputation for his knowledge and skill in the complex and rapidly expanding area of law. With the advantage of this unique perspective, exceptional negotiation skills and an ability to recognize and address the issues involved with complex litigation, he continues to be one of the most highly sought after and respected practitioners in the area.
Dennis is a member of the Westmoreland County and Pennsylvania Bar Associations. In 2012, Dennis was named the Pro Bono Attorney of the Year by the Westmoreland Bar Association. A pro bono volunteer since the inception of the program in 1991, this award is given to the attorney who has provided exceptional volunteer legal representation to indigent Westmoreland County residents.
Dennis is also active in community affairs and has served on the Hempfield Recreation Commission, as Solicitor for the Westmoreland Suzuki School of Music, and as Secretary of the Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Parents Association. He also served for 25 years as the Municipal Solicitor for the Borough of Hunker.
Dennis grew up in Oakmont, Pennsylvania, graduated from Oakmont High School and was a member of the Oakmont High School Championship football team of 1965. He went on to earn a football scholarship to the University of Pittsburgh, is a member of the Pitt Football Varsity Letter Club and still regularly attends Pitt Football games as a long time season ticket holder.
